When?

September 3rd and 4th 2011

Doors open 11am on Saturday 3rd and stay open until midnight.

They re-open at midday on Sunday 4th (leaving enough time for weather-spoons breakfast over the road) and close up at 11 pm

Where?

The Swan In The Rushes Pub
21 the Rushes, Loughborough, Leicestershire, LE11 5BE

Price?

Entry £6 each day on the door or £5 each day in advance. If you wish to purchase a ticket in advance please email ukvssytem@gmail.com for more information, please state whether you can pay using paypal. Including “advanced tickets” somewhere in the subject line will help me filter you out from the spam.

Side event drafts will be £6 per player or £3 per player for French boosters.

Events & Formats:

Saturday (doors open 11am – Midnight)

The main event will be “Bring your own Modern Age” with round one kicking off at 11:30am.

What is – Bring your own Modern Age?

This means you pick any 4 consecutive UDE released Vs. sets and build a deck from them.
(e.g. you could choose:
Marvel Origins, DC origins, Web of Spiderman, Man of Steel.
Or
Avengers, Justice League of America, X-Men, Infinite Crisis
Or
World’s Finest, Marvel Legends, DC Legends, Marvel Universe)

In addition the “exclusive”, “starter deck” and “essential collection” cards can be used in your deck whichever 4 main sets you choose. This includes but is not limited to MEX, DCX, MUL, EHB, MXS, & MCG, however note the additional bannings below.

For this event MEV (the Marvel evolution set) is banned. The standard UDE banned list also applies with the council errata, Omnipotence & Pathetic Attempt are also banned.

In addition to this as UDE haven’t printed any cards in a long while this will be a proxy tolerant event. This means you can play with “proxy cards” in your deck. However all proxies must clearly display what card they are, and all of that cards salient information.

Saturday evening (after the BYOMA event finishes)

Side Events

Casual play

Sunday (Noon – 11pm)

The Main Format is proposed as a Draft, this will most likely be using MUN or MTU depending on numbers and will cost £6 to cover booster costs (this is in addition to the door price).

If people would prefer a constructed event on the Sunday we are open to suggetsion.

Side Events

Casual play

Side events:

We have boosters available for “side event” drafts throughout the weekend. Drafts are £6 each for most sets although we are offering some a £3 Budget draft to; if you like drafting in French…

There should be plenty of time for casual play in the evenings too, I might try and arrange some fun challanges (perhaps a good time to try a casual French draft…)

Prizes:

Doom!

The Doctor Doom Playmat Will be awarded to the player with the best performance on the weekend overall.

The top player in each days event will get a Wolverine Sketch Card.

More to follow…

Judging:

Another effect of UDE no longer supporting Vs System is that there aren’t really any Judges around any more. I was a judge but one big reason for me organising this event is wanting to play in it. Therefore unless I have any volunteers before hand Judging will be done by a selection of players (including me) identified at the start of the event – I will be “Head Judge” and have final say on rulings except in games I am playing in, when my 2IC will have the final say.

If you want to volunteer to judge (either as just a judge or as a player/judge) please drop me an email (ukvssystem@gmail.com)

Other Things:

Facebook:

There is a Facebook event for this event. If you are coming and have Facebook, please confirm your attendance there. And please invite your friends too.

Accommodation:

If you are looking to stay over in Loughborough for the event the pub itself has a limited number of rooms, the venue is in Loughborough town so any town centre accommodation won’t be far from the venue.

Admittance:

This event is open to all but if anyone under the age of 16 wishes to attend they will need to be accompanied by a responsable adult (which could be another player). Anyone playing in a main or side event will be required to pay an entrance fee but adults accompanying younger players and not playing themselves will not be charged.

We are on a licensed premises but drinking during the day of the event is not encouraged and people who drink to excess during the main event will be asked to leave (drinking in the evening is all well and good but remember cards are not water, or beer, proof).
