1 - Sell off old “nerd cr*p” to make room (and money) for new “nerd cr*p” (bye bye Warhammer, Magic and 3rd Ed, hello more Vs, 4th Ed and Heroclix…)
2 - Spend less on “Nerd Cr*p” or at least plan a budget in advance.
3 - Get the new house in order and clear all the boxes from the spare room.
4 - Build new decks (and don’t play the same one at every tourney).
5 - Draft more!

Well my house move is almost complete the old house is almost empty and our new house is comfortable (if a little untidy).
Then as we are doing the last bit of tidying (cleaning the cupboard under the sink) what do I find? A small Tupperware with a rizzler packet visible inside. I don’t know what I was thinking but I open the tiny box and a distinctive smell hit me.
Now some of you may have been thinking Score! but me being a “square” I don’t indulge in such things and was a little disturbed to find my rented accomodation has been harbouring illegal substances for 6 months! Needless to say the stuff has been disposed of lawfully.
It seems that as a nerd I have led a sheltered life but I think everybody breaks the rules and defies authority. I bought a box of DCL on the sly (i.e. I didn’t tell Laura, my wife) the day after it was released here and managed to keep it hushed up for quite a while. That was until both of us were in the FLGS and Ty (the owner) asked if I got a Lobo in my Box. D’oh, I felt the pang of guilt and braced myself for the scalding.
So the day after boxing day where do I find myself, back in House of Heroes purchasing a second box…
That’s the thing with addictions you see, no matter how much trouble you know you’ll get in if you are found out or how logical it seems not to, you still indulge and you still enjoy it!
I love DCL but I wish more of the rares were uncommon because the decks I want to build are all Rare heavy and it is very hard to get hold of any given good rare at a sensible price. Here’s hoping that Marvel Universe has a more even distribution…

13 reasons why today was great.
1 - Last day of work for two weeks!
2 - My Secret Santa present was great, three decks of star wars playing cards in a display case suitable for carrying other decks.
3 - Team meal at fat cats was very tasty. Salmon starter, Turkey main and Christmas Pud to finish.
4 - Got to play with noisy Christmas toys!
5 - Got back home to Loughborough by 4! (normally not till 6:15 pm)
6 - Spent an hour at House of Heroes (FLGS) playing games, on a week day!
7 - Collected my comics and got a christmas discount on count down arena!
8 - Got my Box of DC Legends! (8 boosters open so far - I have so much self control)
9 - Played two games of mini-master, lost both but had great fun.
10 - Got a foily Superman!
11 - Got a message from LordofLimbo about an exciting new deck idea!
12 - Bill Bailey is on TV tonight!
13 - I get to go through a journey in time and space with the mighty boosh!

Well after a distressing six weeks only being able to get online at work (and hence make no posts here or view vssystem.com) I’ve got a new laptop and broadband!
And what a time to be back!
DC Legends is released today!
Thankfully Straight to the Grave has been reprinted so my Jean Grey deck is still silver legal and I’m glad I chose soul world over swamp as that hasn’t returned.
Hopefully these updates will be a bit more regular now.

Since yesterday I have been offered a fully built Doomed earth deck courtesy of the far roaming Alec!
Plans for a two enemy X-mental deck are underway and fingers are crossed in the hope against hope that an order from canada reaches the UK by Sataday morning.
Perhaps Havok and Cyclops are within my reach…

So after having left the vibrant gaming haven that is Patriot Games (in Sheffiled UK) coming up to six months ago I now reach the happy situation of UDE sending an elite series to my new town - Loughborough.
Its been a lot of fun teaching a bunch of new players the game and watching as they discover things for the first time. Unfortunately the only decks I have really built over the last three months have been “Demo” Decks. No broken combos, no cheesy toolboxes etc. But now with 14 AoA cards (which are neigh impossible to get hold of in the UK) I want to build a winning deck.
I’ve got a version of X-mental built from befor MVL rotated in (and avengers out) but I’ve only got two EomEs (including one borrowed from Poppy as he is playing CENSORED) to play with. I do have a set of mobilizes and STTGs but everything is crying out to play Doom on three. What to do?
Outsiders/X-men, Outsiders/Kree, Outsiders/Legionaires, Spider-Man, Doom, Insanity Checkmate/X ??? So much to choose between so little time to decide.
