Wow!

With only two days left to the UK nationals the stakes have been raised some what. An i-pod shuffle goes for around £32-£45 in the UK I’m sure one of those Hulk trophies would look good in my house, even if it would annoy my wife, and an invite to Worlds wouldn’t be bad either – although I’m guessing they won’t be paying the travelling/accommodations cost like they did for the masters challenge winners.

My testing has been somewhat less than it should have been for this event and I’m beginning to think that I’ll be regretting come the weekend. Check back next week for an update on how I (and the rest of the HoH team) did… 

Although it looks like the two cards previewed today on the mothership are April fools jokes we did get two genuine ones yesterday, the Cap we kind-of already knew about and his shield. These cards both look awesome.

TBS has also stated that a number of blogs will be getting to preview cards and if I’ve done my maths right well be getting 6 cards previewed each week, every week for the next nine weeks (which makes 54, 56 if you count the cap cards) that’s about 1/6 of the set we’ll see before the street release. Here’s hoping one of those cards can find its way to me for previewing. Either way I’ll be collating the spoiled card’s names/numbers and speculating about what may be in the gaps on vsrealms. Check out my numerical spoiler here.

We are now also only one week away from the UK nationals, if I manage to win my fight with youtube I’ll try and get some footage of the event sorted for next week.

1. I wish Youtube uploaded videos faster.

2. I wish they’d print some more MVL.

3. I wish I could focus my mind on BYOS instead of every other format under the sun.

So it looks like my back up deck for the UK nationals is going to be F4. Its a great deck but I’d rather play something more original. What I need is a deck that can beat F4 and handle Ahmed as well as wild vomit. The problem is I’m meant to be playing in a clix event this weekend to and my deck making thoughts are being clouded.

The main issue I have with F4 is its lack of hidden hate – I don’t really want to splash 4 drop wolverine because I want mobilize to be as efficient as it can be and I don’t really want to team-up. On top of this lack of this they also have no good way of dealing with troublesome equipment cards.

Titans, my first ever Vs deck, also suffers from a lack of ways to deal with hidden characters I’d love the chance to pilot them again but without press the attack or finishing move I’m not sure they’d be that competitive. Perhaps the Titans could make an appearance alongside Darkseid…

I’ve been working on some more substantial posts today but they are not yet complete so I thought I’d just post a quick update. I played a couple of BYOS games against Ty today in preparation for the nationals. My F4 deck did pretty well but I still think it and my opponents X-men decks need some “tuning”.

I also played a a game against his F4 with my legionaries/outsiders (not BYOS) and we learnt something interesting sometimes invisible woman is a better drop against a weenie swarm than thing, especially if F4 have the initiative. IW takes down Dr light and you stun a couple of other weenies before discarding to neutralize almost all their characters. Then on 8 after their recruit then you play thing and swing directly for 32+ damage…

Yeah, that hurt…

I know I said I’d be sure to inform you about what happen at our doubles tournament but its been a while and I’ve not posted anything. Bad Dave!
