Well after to weeks of cyber silence I thought I would finally put some prose on my page – I still have two half written articles that I’m stuck on to finish but I’m going to ignore those for now. With youtube now hating me I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to load up my first video Thursday 13 but perhaps another textual attempt is worth a try. Here are 13 reasons/excuses why I haven’t written anything here for 2 weeks (ok 3 if you count actually worth reading posts…)
1. Gerbils
A few weeks ago we bought a new pair of gerbils Dillon and Connor, to replace Ellie and Jodie who we lost last year. My wife chose Dillon’s name and I Connor’s (he has red eye’s). Unfortunately Gerbils need playing with (which is fun) and cleaning out (which is not) both of which take time.
2. Easter
Last weekend was Easter and although this meant a five day weekend for me. Unfortunately there seems to be a tendancy amongst wives to think Bank holidays are a good time do DIY. I installed a new fire alarm in our house and we spent a good few hours in B&Q.
3. Friends
On the days before Easter my friend Matt came down from Sheffield for some extensive BYOS testing. We played numerous games and did some trading and caught up on loads of other stuff (I haven’t really seen him since Christmas).
Also two of my work colleague have been/are getting Married.
4. Family
There is something about public holidays, especially religious ones that seems to mean all the members of your extended families need to be seen. I don’t see why relatives can’t organise themselves so that every 4th weekend say a different set visits you/invites you to visit instead of all trying to crowd into one extended weekend.
5. Work
With the end of the financial year fast approaching those “last few” jobs that have to get out now are becoming more and more common meaning there is less time during the day to steal a few minutes to jot down some blog ideas. Plus it means me or my lift are having to stay late cutting down on free time in the evenings.
6. Heroclix
The House of Heroes’ games club has been tempting me more and more into playing this game – and tomorrow we are playing an “actual comic team” 1000 point game. I have invested quite a bit of time over the past few weeks working out the best way to build my “Superboy and the Legion of Super Heroes” Teen Titans/Legionnaires Team-up team.
7. Dungeons & Dragons
With 4th Edition Dungeons and Dragons fast approaching and multiple previews popping up all over I have been spending a lot of time trying to read as much of these as possible. This site seems to have a pretty good collection of the info available.
8. Vs
As ironic as I may be one of the reasons why I’m not writing about Vs is because I’m busy building Vs decks, play-testing decks, trading cards etc. As I am building and testing for the UK nationals I am a little reluctant to post my findings before the event.
9. The writers strike is over
Which means good TV is back. Can’t write watching…
10. Learning to drive
Okay so I haven’t really started this yet (see 13) but I have been re-applying for a provisional license and spending some time looking for good deals on driving lessons.
11. Re-enactment
Since my unit commander has moved to Loughborough I have been able to get back to training for Vikes. Its actually quite a good work out and loads of fun but it eats up all of Wednesday night.
12. Sleeping
With all these extra curricular activities extra sleep is required and more sleep = less Internet time = less blog posts.
13 . Procrastination
Of course the main reason that something I should be doing isn’t getting done is probably because I’m putting it off. Hopefully now I’ve broken the ice wring this I’ll get back into the swing of writing more regular content.
Well thats it for today lets see if I can keep it up and post something else soon!
